The Long Knives Chapter was founded in 2004 and serves Southernmost Illinois. The name Long Knives comes from what Native Americans called George Rogers Clark's soldiers when they passed through this area on their way to capture Vincennes from the British.
The Sons of the American Revolution is a lineage organization. Those eligible must be 18 years of age and be able to prove blood descent to an ancestor who contributed in some way to the cause of American Independence.
The chapter presents awards to ROTC students at Southern Illinois University, marks the graves of Revolutionary War Patriots buried in Southern Illinois, recognizes Eagle Scouts, and participates in many other civic minded and educational activities to promote the history of our area.
The chapter meets at noon on the second Saturday of each month at the Western Sizzlin Steakhouse located at 1808 Bittle Place, Marion IL.
